“Perfect stay”
We stayed here for 3 nights in August with our teenage daughter.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly dogs and then by the owner Philippe. He explained the grounds to us and was helpful with reservations.
The Salomon Suite was perfect for us with an adjoining bedroom for our daughter. The whole chateau has been beautifully and carefully restored, the interior is lovely. I really appreciate nice bedlinens, quality china at breakfast, a good bed and so on, everything here is high quality. The pool area is lovely and quiet. The location of the chateau is perfect, there are so many wonderful places nearby to visit. Cabourg, a cute coastal town is a few minutes drive, there are many very good restaurants nearby.
It is simply quiet and beautiful here, I could have easily stayed 10 days!

“Just Perfect”
We stayed at this beautiful chateau for 3 days and travelled to the Normandy beaches and surrounding towns during the day. The house was exactly what we had hoped it would be. The setting is spectacular, the house is beautiful and historic. Everything is immaculate. Brigitte and Philippe were the best hosts and their breakfast is delicious. There are many excellent restaurants near by for dinner. We would love to be back.

Breakfast was wonderful and the dogs were very friendly but not bothersome. We loved our stay here and highly recommend

Chateau de Beneauville, a 16th Century architectural marvel, is utterly breathtaking and you will find it extremely comfortable and relaxing at the same time. We arrived at the Chateau after stays in Paris and Versailles on our way to the Normandy coastline. We knew immediately that we had arrived at the “right” place as we entered the front gates and peered down the most elegant driveway and entrance we had ever seen and would now fortunately experience. Our trip to France was a family trip (my wife and I and our two teenage girls, 17 and 14 years old.) with a special emphasis on the Normandy region. Chateau de Beneauville is an ideal base for such a trip. Our stay at the chateau lasted four nights in mid-July. Our lodgings were most grand, elegant and spacious. The historically preserved period furniture, fixtures and architectural detail were present in every aspect of our rooms and the other rooms of the Chateau. All so incredible, and yet all so relaxing and comfortable as the host and hostess made us feel most welcome, sharing their grand residence with us. To wake up in the morning, gazing up at intricately coffered ceilings with artwork dating back to the late 16th century left us in awe, and made quite an impression on our teenage kids as they grew to know and understand the time period they were actually living in for those 4 nights. We had many pleasant conversations with Philippe and Brigitte regarding the history of the chateau and the region we were visiting. I cannot say enough about the gracious hospitality of our host and hostess. We were truly sad to leave.

The surrounding grounds, the fun pool and pool bar, the beautifully manicured gardens and colorful potted plants all around us, even the tranquil feel and sound of the trees surrounding the property, are added bonuses and complete this very special place. We are seasoned travelers, have stayed at some of the finest properties in the world, and would rank our stay at the Chateau, in this wonderful part of France, as among our favorites. No doubt we will return and look forward to that day.

“Sheer elegance”
I spent my final night here during a brief summer jaunt to Normandy. The panelled lounges were stunning in their decoration, and the bedroom was comfortable and elegant. Breakfast, served in a splendid room, was excellent. The extensive grounds are lavish, and an open-air pool is available. Philippe is a warm and delightful host. Loved the dogs, and the puppy being trained! Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed in one of the 5 suites of the Chateau de Beneauville during our trip to Normandy, we were able to do several day trips to Etretat , the Mont Saint Michel and to the D-day beaches. Like the region the chateau is rich in histor and Philippe the owner was kind enough to count us many stories.
We liked and recommended the place to our friends for next year.

Driving up the driveway to the chateau, we also thought that we’d taken a wrong turn, so magnificent was our view. Our family had a 3 night stay in the Chateau, enjoyed charming accommodation and had a beautiful breakfast to begin each morning. I had possibly the best yoghurt I’ve had in my life! The chateau is in a great location to visit some of the landing beaches and other attractions of Normandy. Our hosts Philippe and Brigitte were welcoming and knowledgable, steering us toward great restaurants in the nearby villages. We had a really great stay.

“Uniquelly Great”
Reviewed August 31, 2014

When we drove up to the Chateau de Beneauville after a full day of travel in the Normandy, I thought I must have taken a wrong turn and arrived at a summer retreat for a member of the political leadership or dignitary. Not only was it the essence of stateliness, but it seemed to broadcast quiet elegance with a warm welcome. Then it got even better. Our room spoiled us, breakfast filled us with food that was what some come to France for, and the park-like grounds of the chateau made me want to linger to soak up the experience. I took picture after picture to be able to prove to myself and friends that I had actually enjoyed a place like Chateau de Beneauville! Philippe and Brigitte were warm and accommodating hosts who seemed to really enjoy having folks share their home with them. We heard enough of Philippe’s adventures to want to come back for more. I recommend this place for anyone who can be luck enough to get there.

I thought I had posted this review but on recommending friends to the Chateau recently I checked my reviews and see I didn’t – so, an oversight corrected!

We stayed with friends who had booked the Chateau while we were touring the coastline in September 2013 and I can only agree with all of the wonderful reviews below. Philippe and Brigitte were extremely charming, convivial and welcoming and the rooms, or suites, are just exceptional. Philippe helped us to choose venues for aperitifs and dinner in the evening and even dropped us off at the first one. The chateau and grounds are just magnificent and maintained to a very high standard.

I must also mention that as a Coeliac (celiac) I am cursed with a lifelong gluten free diet (not a current celebrity fad one) and Brigitte sourced wonderful GF goodies for my breakfast. All in all a short memorable stay and one we hope to repeat in the not too distant future as there is a lot to see in this lovely area of France.

“A slice of heaven!”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time at the Château de Bénéauville, the home of Philippe and Brigitte, just this past week~what a dream! As everyone else has mentioned, the château itself was impeccable, I felt as if we were in a museum! They have been able to update it and yet maintain the charm of a bygone era. Nothing was amiss! But the friendliness of the owners was definately the highlight! Philippe and Brigitte know so much about the history of their home, and of the area, and love to share stories. We spent a number of evenings just chatting with them and learning something about the previous 400+ years of the château [it was built in 1589].

The rooms and bathrooms are more than clean, the beds so very comfortable. The room includes chairs and/or a small couch, so spacious. The bathroom was spotless… and the towels! They were SO fluffy and soft! Seriously, Brigitte and Philippe have thought of everything!!

The breakfast is not to be missed… freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh pastries, delicious fresh fruit, homemade jams, cheese and ham, fresh bread and wonderful butter, and pressed coffee! Great way to start the day~mostly we did not eat lunch after such a feast!

The heated pool was a plus, we had some warm weather and were able to enjoy it as well as meander the grounds and play with the dogs!

This is a great location for exploring the beaches of Normandy, Charbourg, Mont Saint Michel, Caen, Honfleur, and the like. We got great recommendations from Philippe for both places to visit/see and places to eat.

We can’t thank Philippe and Brigitte enough for making us feel at home away-from-home! We will definately be uback to visit when we are again in the area… we also want to see how the new gardens take shape [altho’ the current ones are gorgeous] and make sure Philippe doesn’t have any more minor “accidents” with the back-hoe!

My family had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful chateau for two nights in early July! Everything about the experience was simply perfect! The chateau and its grounds were beautiful and immaculate. We had a 2 room suite, the suite and bath were spotless and beds very comfortable. The location made it very easy to tour Normandy by car. We would be remiss if we did not mention our hosts, Brigitte and Phillippe. They were welcoming, gracious and wonderful. We loved Phillippe’s stories and Brigitte’s homemade jams and fresh orange juice were delicious. Thank you for a marvelous visit. Our only regret is that we only had two days to enjoy our visit.

“A Jewel of Normandy”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

My wife and I spent three nights in this beautiful, wonderfully maintained chateau. We used it as a jumping point to tour the Normandy area by car and were not disappointed. It was quiet and comfortable.

Our hosts were most pleasant and gracious. Philippe was full of facts and stories of the property and the surrounding areas. He suggested we take a side trip to Honfleur during a day trip to Rouen, and it was one of the the high points of our trip.

We foolishly jumped out to an early start two of the three days and missed breakfast in the magnificent dining room. Our mistake.

The grounds were immaculate and the swimming pool looked very inviting. We didn’t have time to try it out during this visit, but maybe next time.

We would not hesitate to return and strongly recommend you consider staying here if you are in the area.

The Chateau de Beneauville is superlative in all categories. It is a gorgeous historical property that is beautifully maintained both inside and out. The rooms are large, the bathrooms attractive, clean and updated. Wi-fi works well. It is well situated to visit the D-Day beaches. However, the best attribute of this chateau is the couple who owns it , Philippe and Brigitte Augais. They are both charming, friendly and hospitable. Philippe is a great story teller and Brigitte an excellent cook, who serves a beautifully appointed and delicious breakfast..which includes fresh orange juice.

My husband and I took our children and grandchildren to Paris and Normandy this summer. We were a group of 12 (aged 70 down to 6) and spent 3 nights at the chateau, June 18-20. We occupied every nook and cranny of the 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are suites, and were all very comfortable. After returning from the D-Day sites, most of the group headed for the attractive heated pool, and one evening we enjoyed wine at the bar by the pool. When we left, we all felt like Brigitte and Philippe were part of our family, and we hope that they will come to visit us in Houston. We are grateful to Philippe and Brigitte for providing an unforgettably beautiful experience for our whole family.

The breakfast is amazing with eggs from the Chateau’s farm. Also fresh orange juice and homemade marmalade.

“Wonderful place to stay”

We had the opportunity to stay at Chateau de Beneauville for three days. I can not overstate what a wonderful B&B this is. The accomodations are just fabulous. After spending a week in Paris we headed to Normandy. At the end of our three days in Normandy we all agreed that we should have allocated some additional time to stay and explore in this area. My college age daughter and her friend stated that staying here was one of the top highlights of the 12 day visit in France.

We loved our stay at Chateau de Beneauville as something very, very unique. The accomodations were excellent. It is as if you are in a 5 star hotel on an very intimate scale. The Chateau is on 25 acres of luxurious grounds. Philippe and Brigitte, the owners, could not have been more gracious hosts. Wonderful hospitable folks. They went out of their way to ensure that our visit was top notch and enjoyable. We really enjoyed meeting them and hearing of their world travels. They provided us with the most fabulous breakfasts each moring served in the dining room. Wonderful way to start the day! At night they took the time to open a bottle of wine and spend time with us before we went off to dinner.

Bavent is near Cabourg and we had very enjoyable meals at the restaurants Philippe recommended. Maybe somewhat surprisingly, they were some of the best dinners we had during our stay in France. We would have liked more time to just explore around the coast. Maybe next time.

The Chateau is a wonderful spot to use as a base to explore the area. We rented a car and it is an easy drive from Paris on the A13. We stopped in Giverny to see Monet’s summer house and gardens where we had a very enjoyable lunch and visit. Then we cruised the back roads to Bavent. We took a day to go to Mont St Michel and Bayeaux. Then we spent a full day with a guide getting a historical perpsective on the WWII D-Day event (Utah/Omaha beached and museums and cemetaries). Fascinating and we could have used an additonal day to explore the other three beaches.

Hopefully you get the sense that we truly enjoyed our stay at Chateau de Beneauville and in Normandy. We wished we had had more time to just relax on the grounds. We would love to again visit the area in the future. We would definately stay at the Chateau again and we have already recommended it to three friends who have plans to travel to the area in 2014.
